WE SUPPORT THE MUGIWARA PROJECT

Meishin Group Co., Ltd. supports the Mugiwara Project in Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

The person responsible for this activity is Atsushi Toyama, also known as the “Mugiwarasonchou” , who is a fisherman specializing in wild eel.The project, which started on SNS, received a great response, and now we are operating an eel fishing experience base and a restaurant called “Unagimura” that serves wild eel.
Kasumigaura natural eel has a golden-brown belly and has good fat throughout the year, and compared to natural eels that live in other rivers, the body and bones are softer, and the river's thinner and more elegant fat is attractive.
“We want to spread the deliciousness of Kasumigaura natural eel throughout Japan and around the world.” “I want to revitalize my hometown Kasumigaura City.” With this in mind, Mr. Toyama is active on social media and other sites.

Mr. Toyama is also working on making Channel catfish edible.
Since around 2000, the invasive Channel catfish that has proliferated in Lake Kasumigaura has caused a decline in the catch of native eel. Therefore, Mr. Toyama developed “Natural Golden Channel catfish Jerky” . They are currently preparing for sale using funds raised through crowdfunding.
Impressed by these activities, our company provided support on April 21, 2025.Meishin Group Co., Ltd. will continue to support the activities of the Mugiwara Project, which is rooted in the local community and conveys the charms of Kasumigaura and protects the ecosystem.
